About this Shrine

Located in the city of Kanazawa, Hie Shrine is one of Japan's most famous Shinto shrines dedicated to the god Hachiman, patron deity of the Imperial Court and a powerful kami associated with war and protection. The shrine was originally built on Mount Haku but relocated to its current site in 1496 during the Muromachi period.
